Mark Nicholas is the Owner of Manhattan Beach Studios. He has extensive experience in sound engineering, photography, videography and lighting. He started his music career assisting in the technical design of Whitney Houston's recording studio and has toured with artists such as Meatloaf and 10,000 Maniacs in occupations ranging from roadie to stage monitor mixer. As a photographer, Mark's works have appeared in National Geographic, Astronomy and Outdoor Photographer and more. As a musician Mark has multiple releases and was a voting member of the Grammy's for nearly 20 years.
Mark is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, practicing in the fields of entertainment, intellectual property, estate and financial services. He has served as CEO of Family Archival Solutions, Inc. and the National Will Registry as well as in a variety of senior legal roles with American Century Brokerage and ING North America. In private practice, and with California Lawyers for the Arts, Mark has represented artists, musicians/producers and filmmakers in various capacities.
Mark is the author of four books including It's (Not) Just Business and the 16 year best-selling boating book The Essentials of Living Aboard a Boat. He has taught university and law school classes in both Constitutional Law and Negotiations. He is the founder of the South Bay Photography Society with more than 1600 members and serves on the Board of Beach Cities Swimming. Currently, Mark lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 12-year old daughter.
